i just finished watching the world's saddest film EVER on the english movie channel: 'ps i love you.' i knew i shouldnt have watched it...i cant even see the cover of it in a store without my eyes welling up! so needless to say...i just cried my eyes out over that film! but its sooooooo good...the story, the acting, the actors, the setting, the music...i normally hate chick flicks, but this is one of my all-time favourite films. (but soooo sad!!!!) now i really miss ireland...haha!
today i went to taipei to visit my friends mary and kristen. we went to xiandin to ride the paddle boats, which was of course quite the experience...people kept taking our photo and laughing at us because we couldnt steer our boat and we kept crashing into everything in sight. it was so funny...half the time we were laughing too hard to paddle and i was in charge of steering so of course we were all over the place. but the place we were boating was so beautiful. it really reminded me of salzburg (austria) and lake lure (nc). haha. i know thats random...that some part of asia could look like some place in europe and some place in america...but it really did. hope to have some photos up soon. man, i really love taipei. its soooo cool. but really today it was about 20348032840 degrees. i was dyinggggggggggggggggggggg. for dinner, we went to a jamacain coffee shop...and i ate some reeeeally good japanese pork! i bought some new toys for my class at the 10nt store and etc etc. good good day. i loooooooove taipei.
today for the first time, i realised that i was in asia. all the whole time i felt i was in some bizarre parallell universe that wasn't really part of anything. when i was in europe i knew it was europe; when i was in america, i always know it. but today, i had the realisation that i live in taiwan. wow. i live in asia! for real! it hit me this morning when i went to buy a train ticket and i bought it in chinese. i spoke chinese to the lady behind the counter, she responded to me in chinese, and then i responded back in chinese. i wasnt suprised by this until i sat down on the train (after having to walk through the whole blessed thing because i thought the front was the back...boooooo) and i thought to myself, 'i cant believe i just bought my own ticket and am about to pop up in taipei BY MYSELF.' and then tonight when i got home, i was equally as shocked that i made it to taipei and back alone.
i guess i am truly an adult now.
