typhooooooooooon

my second favourite band (and the only favourite band of mine with all the members still alive whose show i could ever go to) COLDPLAY! had a concert in charlotte a few days ago and i'm so gutttttted that i didnt get to go. that night i sat in my apartment and listened to all of their albums on repeat and wished and wished and wished i was there. in honour and homage...here are some good lyrics.

this time of year used to be one that i looked more forward to than anything: GOING BACK TO THE I-HOUSE! packing up all my stuff, hauling it back to greensboro, and starting another amazing year of international student mayhem. this year, im not doing that and im admittedly bummed about that. i loved college more than anything else. i loved never having to cook for myself unless i wanted to. i loved not paying rent or bills. i loved having my friends living under the same roof as me. i loved being able to wear pajamas in public and no one looking twice. i loved being able to, on occasion, stay up all night and sleep all day the next day. i loved that the biggest thing i had to worry about was an exam. i miss the ihouse. i miss it i miss it i miss it. but, this is a new adventure for me. and i love it i love it i love it! but come every august for the rest of my life, part of me will wish that i was 20 again and headed back to the ihouse for the best years of my life...

in taiwan for the past 2 days, there has supposedly been a 'typhoon' but to be honest, its just been windy and wet. nothing as exciting as i was hoping, really. not much anyway. we have had 2 typhoon holidays and today, its blazing sunlight. im really confused by taiwan's weather patterns. one thing that i find amusing is how people react to typhoons. its much like we in nc react to snow. even if its not that big a deal and it only snows for one minute, everyone rushes out to walmart to buy bread and milk and candles 'just in case the power goes out.' same here. i went to costco yesterday with the owner of my school and his family to get food because the typhoon was supposed to get worse (and still is but i dont believe it because its sunny outside!!!). anyway, after a lunch of the best, most spicy, and cheapest (!) korean food ever, we drove to hsinchu city. we got to costco, and i was about to have a panic attack because there were SO MANY PEOPLE there. it was almost no match for the new york macy's on black friday! i couldnt move or walk anywhere. but, i was in an american's paradise!!! for a split second i felt like i was back in america- except that everyone was asian and i couldnt really move. i bought some american food (ritz, CHEESE which is expensive here!, bread, and granooooooooola bars) and then we came back home. that was one of the most bizarre experiences ive had in taiwan. they were giving out sushi samples and beer samples and i just cant stress enough that it was cram full of people.

in other news, i finally found and bought the album of my favourite singer, 陳乃榮, and i have to say that its even more awesome than i had hoped. life is good. now if bump of chicken will just come on tour to taiwan, life will be amazing!
